Buckstyle’s Top 5: Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2010
Following’s McQueen’s inspiring video/presentation, here’s Buckstyle’s pick of five key items you could be wearing next January when the SS 10 collection hits the shops.
1. Oversized print sweater- Nicely oversized and with leather elbow patches, the graphic squares on this sweater felt painted on as well. The kind of thing you never know you’d wanted until you see it up close, it’s a fresh thinking piece that typifies the coherence of this collection.

2. Blue metallic lace-ups- Hard to pick from the shoes in a collection where they are as well thought-through as the clothing. Just when you thought patent couldn’t be interesting again, the mixture of metallic blue with bland sole and laces snaps you to attention.
3. Paint-splattered denim shorts- Maybe it’s crazy to recommend denim shorts with paint all over them, but making your own is a lot harder than it seems. Here the colours, cut and fit keep things nicely contained.
4. Kaleidoscope print shirt- Like patchwork, but also with a healthy dose of futurism. This pattern was used on sneakers too- you just know it would pep up pretty much everything in your wardrobe.
5. Painted blazer- It’s got the effect of piping, but actually hand-painted in blue. It’s all about the execution- a simple idea done well enough to appeal long after this collection has been and gone.
