Juun. J Spring/Summer 2010 Show Report
You could say that Juun. J is known for taking a strong idea and literally running it through an entire collection to it’s logical extreme.
This time the concept was sheer or overlaid. Combination has always been key to the designer’s work, but this time it took on a literal dimension with sheer overlaid shorts, shorts with attached sheer leggings and a plethora of sheer outerwear. There was even a repeat of last season’s double-layered, double-breasted blazer with part of the blazer totally constructed from featherweight see-through fabric.
Blueprint-style graphics and gingham adorned the insides of these clothes, with flashes of gold cartoonish print placed oddly on hems and sleeves. Of course that wasn’t everything- Juun. J’s flowing A-shaped silhouettes from last season were evolved into two of the season’s most intriguing hybrids, a cardigan cape and trench jumpsuit. If that last one sounds ridiculous, then be assured that it definitely didn’t look it. In fact, Juun. J’s work is almost commercial in that it’s easy to see the cool factor in these pieces. They don’t take a fashion degree to decode, and the appeal of the futuristic sandals or deconstructed trenches is exceptionally clear- no pun intended.
