Komakino is a label for disciples of Rick Owens, Jak & Jil blog, and probably the occult as well. Black, deconstructed, tough and futuristic – and rarely deviating from that thoroughly satisfying template. This season their catwalk show was given more oomph with the addition of latex socks and leggings by fetish wunderkind Atsuko Kudo, styling courtesy of LOVE’s Anders Thompsen and headpieces from designer around town Keko Hainswheeler.

Even if it felt similar to what Komakino always does, there was a lot to like. A shirt-cape hybrid made you wonder why nobody had bothered doing that before. Longer length shorts added a welcome hip-hop note to the mix and the whole thing actually felt totally wearable; a rare show that reflected not only real-world style but more importantly displayed an excellent knack for imagining pieces you’d really love to have in your wardrobe but nobody else is making right now.

Elsewhere, the T-shirts in collaboration with Levi’s Korea felt like retreads of old Raf Simons designs, not quite hitting the mark. But it’s a small criticism of another welcome label to add to an overwhelmingly high-quality menswear day in London.

  • Blank Label says:

what a bunch of interesting looks.
the futuristic looks are interesting, but they are SO far into the future, that i dont think mainstream is ready for it.
but these looks certainly deserve to be archived in fashion history
