Spring Key Trend Themes: 2\ CHANDLER
The second Key Trend referencing the 90s, but this time 90s TV and music. Think Screech from Saved by the Bell; think Rickie from My So-called Life; think Party of Five; think Blossom; and most of all think…Chandler Bing! It’s a washed-out, relaxed look; layered and loose with a touch of suburban grunge. Perhaps it’s a certain type of scenester re-discovering their teenage years, feeling nostalgia for the days when you could watch TV all day and not have to worry about the rent? Or perhaps it’s just a return to comfy-cool after years of skinny jean torture. This look can easily be found in vintage stores such as Rokit, Beyond Retro and The East End Thrift Store, and key pieces include double-denim ensembles, carpet bags, and bomber jackets. But take a look too at the designers that are referencing the colours and shapes of the period in a new way.
